The Sketchbook
Why is it that pupils are rarely asked about the design of their school?
If you were designing an office building or a hospital - you'd ask the future occupants what they wanted?
So why is it ok not to consult pupils on the design of their school?
The sketchbook was a commission by School Works who are passionate about getting pupils' voice into school design,
building better schools for the 21st century.
They had already created a highly successful paper-based version of the Sketchbook,
which was designed to act as a discussion catalyst for schools to use with pupils to ascertain
what the design features were that really mattered to them.
We were brought in to create an animated online version of this, enabling School Works
to potentially collect data from every UK pupil.
We're really pleased with the results, it's a genuinely useful tool but one with a sense of humour - something
that's often missing in education today!
